About the Report.
Antarctica WISE publishes the White Continent Index for Stability & Excellence — an independent, specification-based assessment of the polar expedition fleet. The Report grades every vessel on three separate instruments: the Drake Comfort Coefficient (how a hull behaves on the crossing), the Polar Luxury Index (the onboard product), and the Field Experience Score (the off-ship machinery of exploration). Scores are computed from published naval-architecture records, operator and shipyard specifications, and regulatory filings — never from fares, brochure claims, or commercial relationships — and the three grades are never merged into a single number.
The Report is written for travelers weighing a significant polar voyage, for travel advisors and expedition specialists who need a defensible comparison, and for researchers, journalists, and industry analysts who need a standardized, citable dataset on the fleet. Every formula, composite weight, and grading standard is published in full — so any reader can check the arithmetic behind a grade.
The Report is built and maintained by an independent research desk that accepts no advertising, sponsorship, or commissioned placement from any operator, shipyard, or seller of polar travel. Operators are named for transparency — never for promotion — and the fleet is re-scored each season as vessels are refitted, stretched, or launched.
